Red and Blue Ankara Print Headwrap
Historically, headwraps are traditional attire in many Sub-Saharan African cultures.
Headwraps were considered symbols of status, marriage, and family lineage. During the Transatlantic Slave Trade, they were one of the few cultural pieces enslaved Africans were able to bring to the Americas.
The turban-like headwrap, (tignon) became a defiant fashion statement for Afro-Creole women (free of color). The styling as well as the headwraps purpose makes it a must-have in every women's wardrobe.
