International Women's Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 to celebrate the achievements of women. One major point is in part due to the fact that the US has 12.3 million women-owned businesses! This comes as no surprise as many local and government agencies have reported the below statistics:
- US women-owned businesses generate $1.8 trillion a year.
- 40% of US businesses are women-owned.
- 64% of new women-owned businesses were started by women of color last year.
- California has 1.3 million women-owned firms, the highest in the country.
- Louisiana has the highest percentage growth of women-owned businesses at 46.9%.
